The Food Graduate Development Programme has been developed by UCD, UCC and Teagasc.

The aim of this programme is to provide skills training to postgraduate students and research staff funded under the Food Institution Research Measure (FIRM) in universities and research institutions in Ireland.
The programme aims to provide benefits to students and to Industry.

Modules are run every couple of months, are usually residential and run for 3 days. Students are encouraged to attend at least 2 modules a year. The programme covers the costs of accommodation, course and meals.
Modules in this programme will have a strong emphasis on the skills required from leaders in the agri-food sector, food industry and other institutions nationally and internationally.
They are specifically tailored for the needs of the post graduate with a food or nutrition based qualification.

The project coordinator is Professor Michael Gibney, Professor of Food and Health at UCD and the Director of Training is Dr Alan Kelly, Dean of Graduate Studies at UCC. Funding was provided under the National Development Plan, through the Food Institutional Research Measure, administered by the Department of Agriculture, Food and Fisheries.
